Program Overview

Founded in 1996, the Honors Program at Armstrong Atlantic State University has rapidly developed into a vibrant community of students. The Program offers talented and motivated students in every department and program at AASU the change to take advanced and smaller classes in the place of general education requirements, followed by the opportunity to creatively apply their intellectual curiosity to independent projects or special classes in their majors.

The Program is largely student-directed, with a community of about 150 students enjoying a variety of extracurricular opportunities. Students are responsible for soliciting and evaluating suggestions for new courses, publishing newsletters and web pages, organizing social events, and reaching out to prospective new students. The Honors Program offers numerous opportunities for students interested in taking leadership positions on campus.

Some benefits of the Program are:

  • Early Pre-Registration
  • The Honors Classroom and Lounge
  • Honors Scholarships
  • Additional Scholarship Opportunities
  • Opportunities for international travel
