Planning Honors Projects

If you're one of those students who is planning your Honors Projects or if you anticipate conducting your honors project in the near future, keep in mind your responsibilities.

  • Students are responsible for informing the Honors Program co-directors of their project plans and updating the co-directors if those plans change.
     

  • Students are responsible for being familiar with and adhering to Honors Program policies regarding honors projects.  The updated policies are outlined on this page.  Copies are also available in Dr. Remler's office and they are posted in the honors lounge.
     

  • Students are responsible for securing advisors for their honors projects.  According to honors project guidelines, each honors project must be supervised by more than one faculty member.
     

  • Students much complete their honors project to the satisfaction of their faculty advisors and the Honors Program co-directors no later than two weeks prior to their graduation dates.
     

  • Upon completing the projects, students much as their project advisors for documentation of satisfactory completion of the project.  That documentation may take the form of a memo.  Students must provide that documentation to the Honors Program co-directors.  Students are responsible for contacting the co-directors to schedule the project presentation, which must take place.  Co-directors will reserve an appropriate room for the presentation.
     

  • No later than one week prior to the presentations, students must invite the Honors Program co-directors, the Honors Program advisory committee members, and their project advisors to attend.  Students may also invite other interested faculty members, friends, and family.
     

  • Students may request to present their projects in a room equipped with audio-visual technologies.  If they decided to use computer technologies during their presentations, students are responsible for acquiring computers and appropriate software.  Students are also responsible for testing equipment in the reserved rooms and planning for possible technical difficulties.
